Violence and Inner Peace.. Finding Balance

Around 7:00 or so, the Amazon decided to go in her room and do God only knows what look at jobs on her laptop, so after I ran some hot dishwater and put a few things in to soak, I took advantage of the situation, claimed both couch and remote and began surfing. In the past few days I've mentioned how I'm trying to get my head back to a spiritual place, find inner peace and ya know... stop fantasizing about strangling my co-workers with assorted pieces of office equipment. (Have you ever considered the damage you could do with a hole puncher? I mean, some people go straight for the paper cutter, but taking a heifer down with a hole puncher.. that there is an accomplishment.)

Anywho, I surfed through the channels, past the sitcom reruns, past the game shows, when I heard a voice.. a deep male voice.. Dr. Wayne Dyer. I first discovered Dr. Dyer during a PBS fund drive during a time that I was searching, questioning and trying to figure everything out. It only took about five minutes for me to be completely captivated by everything this man had to say. It was as if the principles he taught, were concepts and ideas that I already knew and only needed to be reminded of. This particular show was a new one, based on his book Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao. I turned the set up a bit and went to the kitchen to finish up those few dishes while I listened, when in walked the Amazon. She plops down on the couch, takes the remote and exclaims, "Kyle XY!"

"Uh no.. Wayne Dyer."

"Excuse me.. it's Monday night, Kyle XY."

"I've not seen this one! WAYNE DYER!"

"Kyle XY," she mutters, grinning as she changes the channel. I walked back over to the sink, washed a few plates and made a few idle threats in her general direction. I'd have put up a fight but I'm sure it'll be back on this weekend, probably before she gets up.

And impaling my child's forehead with the universal remote kinda goes against everything Dr. Dyer teaches.

I love watching Dyer on PBS, but I hate it when they break in to ask for money...LOL

He put me to sleep tonight, though and when I awoke it was 9:20 and I had missed 20 mins of Big Love! Darn.

I like what he was saying about the Tao; I may have to break down and buy that book.

Let me point out that the *real* reason she was watching Wayne Dyer is because, being old and forgetful, she forgot that her favorite show "How Clean is Your House" came on at 7:30 on BBCAmerica.

This one gave me a big laugh.

I started with the picture of *jobs on the laptop*. Mine is doing that exact same thing. Its a funny way to look for a job, isn't it, so different from the way I had to look for work. I must confess I am growing a bit anxious over the search.

Then the contrast between Dr. Dyer and Kyle XY...who's to win? hehe, kids these days.

;-). Monday nights for me is Hell's Kitchen. That Scottish accent is hard to resist.

I just read your follow up comment--you have an August baby too? We were sweating it out together then 22 years ago. (Yours is the same age as mine, right? At least they both graduated college at the same time) I made a vow right then to never have another summer baby. Of course, i never had another one ever, so I win. I think.

How Clean is Your House? I gotta see that one.

Yep AC, I think there are alot of similarities between our situations.

How Clean is Your House is on BBC America weeknights at 7:30. It's two British ladies who enter the nastiest homes you can imagine, clean them up and breathe new life into them. And they're hillarious.

Just so you can avoid these battles in the future, Kyle XY is shown again after the 700 Club on Tuesday nights. Then again, that might interfere with Craig....

Well, see, they show is on ABC on friday nights too...but that interfers with our friday night schedule...which involves Doctor Who and I'm not giving that up for ANYTHING.

And momma, you best not be forgettin my birthday...you still owe me that pirate cake from last year, and you KNOW you want to make one, if only to decorate it >_>
