My Boss is a Jerk

Strap yourself in, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.

Last Tuesday I got a call from the home health social worker (not to be confused with the county social worker, who proved to be less than effective,) stating that everything was in place, paperwork wise, to get Ma in to a skilled nursing facility.

I started making phone calls.

Each time I tried to get her placed in one of the homes close to the holler, something would go wonky. Either they wouldn't have a bed or they would but by the time I called the Medicaid office and waited for a return phone call, the bed would get gone.

I kept being directed, by The Universe, synchronicity, God, coinkydink.. however you want to label it, back to the facility she was at when she got out of the nut hut last year. I eventually gave in to The Universe, stopped fighting what was to be and that is where she ended up.

She was checked in on Tuesday, on Wednesday, the paperwork from her doctor would have expired.

It seems like a nice enough place, it's just kind of a long drive.

When I left there Tuesday, the waterworks began because apparently I'm a big ass baby. I called work to let Bossholio know I wouldn't be in after all.

The next morning I overslept about 20 minutes. I assume it was caused by the anti-anxiety medication I'd taken on Tuesday. I'd never taken two doses in the same day before and I never even heard my alarm. I threw some clothes on, hauled booty to work to discover Bossholio had just left the PM's secretary's office where he pitched a big fit, telling her to "Get Mahala on the phone and find out if she still works here or what."

First of all, she doesn't work for him. She should have told him to go commit acts of an unlawful carnal nature unto himself. With the business end of a shovel. Second, he knew what was going on. That was Wednesday, Thursday the proverbial excrement hit the rotary air movement device.

I was late again. Don't know why. Never heard my alarm.

I rushed in at 8:30 and even though I live like 2 minutes from The Asylum, I called him on the way to tell him I would be late, since that was what had his butt in a wad the day before.

Bossholio came to my office, stood over me at my desk and verbally berated me until I was boohooing like a big ass fool.

Now, I know I shouldn't have been late. My shouldn't allow my personal problems to affect my job.. blah blah blah. But honestly, I've been here over 15 years. I cover for him all the time when he comes and goes as he pleases. Attendance has never been a problem with me. He could cut me some slack. I really didn't deserve the tongue lashing I received. My favorite part?

"I am aware that you are having (insert finger air quotes. Bossholio loves him some finger air quotes) "problems" with your mother, but we are expected to begin work at 8 am."

In my head I said, "Really asshole? I didn't know that." In reality I actually said something like, "*snort* *cough* I knowwww.. *sniffle* I'm sorry.. I dunno what happened.. *waaaahhhhhh* *snort* *swallow*"

To which he responded, "Do you have it under control now Mahala? You need to get yourself under control."

Such a big squishy teddy bear full of compassion.. ain't he?

Asshole.

Anywho...

Over the weekend I made all social like with some kinfolk. I'll fill ya'll in on that adventure later in the week.

Ya'll have a good one!

Later Taters!!

Someone needs to whomp him upside the head with a huge dose of compassion (for others.)If I lived closer to you, I'd volunteer for that. So sorry, Mahala.

Sounds like the boss we have here. Untill it's their family problems, they can't understand. But when its them having issues then its a different story. I agree the karma bus will be at his door soon enough. Just keep your head up and stay strong.

I don't think he's just lacking in compassion, he's stupid to boot! Until you've had to deal with it - taking care of an aging parent is it's own kind of hell - exhausting, traumatizing, emotionally wrenching and did I mention exhausting??? I have always found highly emotional things to be way more physically taxing than just about anything else. I'm thinking somebody needs to drop your boss into a maximum security prison for just a day - with a sign on his back saying he's a child molester. THEN maybe he will be a bit smarter. Okay - probably not. But at least he'd get what he deserved for being an asshole over and over and over again.
Stepping down now ..
