I don't know what I missed here at the Asylum Monday, but it must have been a doozy.
I was at my desk yesterday morning, working away, minding my own beeswax when I heard Thelma say, "People are STUPID! Why do people have to act so STUPID!"
This was followed by Louise saying, "I know, thar ain't no sense in that!"
"Bubbles said she wants to quit so bad she could cry, but Bubbahubby won't let her," Thelma added.
So yeah.. I don't know who took a tinkle in Bubbles' corn flakes Monday, getting everyone in a tizzy, I'm just glad I wasn't here.
Moving on...
I've been giving the book thing a lot of thought and poking around on a few different self-publishing sites. I'm leaning towards Lulu. If any of you have had experience with them or know someone who has, I'd love some input. They seem to have more printing options than Cafepress, the pricing is a little better and they offer marketing services after the *cough* masterpiece is written.
In other news...
I was super busy here at the office yesterday, mostly with credit memos and new customer accounts rather than orders, but hopefully the latter will turn in to dollars soon. Bossman came by the cube a few minutes ago, informing both Bubbles and I that we could work five days the next two weeks.
It was like an early Christmas pressie.
Do ya'll remember the mass mailing I did a couple of weeks ago? Well... I've been patiently waiting for the deluge of sales calls to come rolling in as a result. Imagine my irritation when Thelma appeared in my cube yesterday carrying half of them in big, white post office bucket. Apparently whoever put the the postage on that particular stack (we send our outgoing mail to the other plant for postage.. don't ask) didn't put enough and it had all come back.
I wasn't pleased.
In my effort to be a kinder, gentler, less likely to rip the heads off of innocent bystanders and toss them in the river for the catfish, Mahala.. I calmly took the bucket from Thelma, marched it up to Tiny and quietly asked him to please return it to the other plant.
It wasn't easy.
My hope is that I'll work these next two weeks, which will be just long enough for those sales calls to start rolling in and I'll get my full time hours back permanently.
This working part time stuff is for the birds.
Anywho, it's Hump Day ya'll. I'd better start humping.
Ya'll have a good one. Hump it like a jack rabbit.
Later Taters!

Hey, a kinder gentler Mahala? :)
Have you looked into writers market, Mahala? I'm writing a book in hopes of submitting it there. :D

hey! I can hump it like a squirrely jack rabbitt
always a silver lining!
I can't tell you anything about Lulu as a publisher from personal experience as I have never published anything. But, I've read a good bit of what others have said about working with them -some good, some bad -and I can tell you about a Yahoo group -The Writer's Life -you could join and post some questions there, get a lot of feedback on Lulu and other companies too, so you could better make a good, safe, rational decision then about who to choose. The moderator of this particular group is Dorothy Thompson. You can tell her I sent you there, recommended the group, etc. if you wish to give it a shot.
I live for the day that Bubbles quits.
Then gets a job at the Grab and Go (and go and go). I'm prayin' for this turn of events to happen soon.
