I want to thank ya'll for your kind words regarding the passing of my beloved Mazda. It was the first car I ever bought from a dealer and had to make actual payments. Before that, I'd never owned a car that cost more than I could buy with my tax refund. I had a kick ass stereo installed a month after I bought it, I'm going to miss that bit.
The plan is to go beg for mercy at the Kia dealership after the first of the year. I'm hoping to catch a deal on a left over 2007 Sportage. Ya'll keep your fingers crossed for me.
There is good news on the vehicle front. The hippy van now has a functioning door on the driver's side. The guy that installed it, rewiring all the power goodies and making sure it looked nice, charged the same for welding the new door on that Cletus charged me to install a belt. A belt that I'm pretty sure I didn't need. It's okay, what comes 'round goes 'round. In the prophetic words of Earl Hickey (from "My Name is Earl") "Kharma will kick him in the ass."
I'm so thankful it's Friday. This week has been rough, like taking a mule kick to the head. The weekend plans include assorted household duties, a bit of internet research focusing on a new project I've got in mind and dusting off the camera for some nice fall pictures.
This week is almost licked, ya'll have a good one.

You have had enough car problems for a lifetime so I'm crossing my fingers and pointing them at the Kias for you.
I was taken aback--it IS Friday. I have had some tearful sessions this week--anxiety over the daughter/job (or the lack of a full time one)/insurance/general hormonal shifting/some people who really irritate me with whom I must nevertheless interact/....where have the days gone? I'm ready for a weekend, as long as it goes well.
Looking forward to you pictures.
TGIF!
What a hell of a day!

Where we live the Kia place is running a special - you buy a minivan and they give you a second vehicle for free. They are desperate to unload them because no one is buying.
I have a Chevy Tracker which is the same as a Sportage. I love it, it has never given me any trouble, and it's a 2001. I called it a girls SUV. One of my co-workers liked it and this year she brought a new Sportage 2007 in that champaigne color - and it's beautiful! And - she loves it too.
Good choice!
