Ma and the Amazon made it to the junk yard yesterday, where the hippy van limped into the parking lot and died. I'm not sure what happened, there was mention of a "big belt" that runs everything (wtf?) the water pump and the brakes going out. I don't really know. The Amazon called me at one point to tell me that she was in the tow truck and Ma was asleep in the hippy van on the back of the rollback because after several attempts, a few bruises and climbing on cinder blocks it became evident that she could not get in the cab of the truck.
To make a long story short, everyone made it home in one piece, the van is in the drive way and we're all in agreement (finally) that there's just no sense in putting any more money into it.
A moment of silence........
Every time I climbed in that van to start to Greensboro to get the Amazon for spring break, long weekends or summer vacation, I said a little prayer to please let it make it until she graduated from college, a prayer which was answered with a resounding yes. Now it's mission is completed and it can die in peace (or pieces.. so to speak.)
The Amazon has a job interview today in Big City. She's taking my car which is running great, but still has the same tires it had as it sat in the grass for two years. She will be driving on a hope and a prayer, you know they've got to be dry rotted.
Ya'll keep your fingers crossed.

crossed.
Crossed here, too, and prayers will be said!
Great luck to all, it will all work out.

Here's crossing more than 2 fingers re: the car/interview. My girl has found that an anthropology/museum studies degree is, well, basically an interview killer. Too educated for most jobs and underexperienced for everything else. It is making me anxious and her discouraged.
I'd say you got your money's worth from the hippie van, it's work is done now....
Hope the interview goes well for The Amazon!
