I'm still on my soapbox over the arrest of Duane "Dog" Chapman, so let's get that out of the way first. I watched an interview with MSNBC's Rita Cosby and Beth Chapman at lunch today. I noticed that Ms. Cosby questioned the possible connection between Dog's arrest and the extradition of one of Mexico's drug lords the following day, as I did in an earlier post.
I could go on endlessly about the injustice and outright absurdity of this whole thing, but I'll spare you. Use the following links to let your voice be heard, or to view interviews:

I'm not sure how much good online petitions do, but at least it gives the feeling that you can do something.
Anyway.... moving on.
When I got home from work today and I slowed to turn into the driveway, I spotted something in the road. It was about twelve inches long, wiggling and had no legs. It was a very young... snake. I got close enough, from inside the van mind you, to see that it had a definite diamond pattern along it's body. Diamonds on snakes mean one thing.. rattler.
It was moving across the road, away from the property. I hope it wasn't the first to leave from a family reunion with all it's slithery kinfolk who are now out there partying somewhere near our wood pile.
So yeah, I've been sitting with my feet off the floor for much of the evening.
I received an email from someone spamming for Yanni. Yes that's right, Yanni. The email said:
" Hey,I just found your John Tesh group: http://hiddenmahala.blogspot.com/2006/08/handsome-men-teddy-bears-and-ernesto.html"
Excuse me... my John Tesh group? Apparently if you lust for the Teshman (I don't) you're equally smitten with Yanni. Granted, I've outgrown my fancy for knuckle dragging neanderthals who can crush beer cans on their head while belching the alphabet, but I don't think I'm ready to join the Yanni set. I still like my men with just a WEE bit more testosterone.
Men who would be willing to remove baby rattle snakes from my general vacinity by whatever means they deem necessary.
I believe that all living things have a purpose, but dammit, there's a WHOLE FREAKIN' MOUNTAIN right across the road that those little bastids can frolic on and more down the road. They really don't have to be all up in my yard.
The evil little psycho mutt is sleeping with me tonight. He'll protect me.
Later Taters.

I haven't seen a snake around here for about 5 years - and that is too soon for me. Hope the rattler keeps going away from you.
Ahhh... but Yanni - all dressed in white, with his long dark hair, playing the piano JUST FOR YOU? You'd turn that down? LOL.
I know you'll be watching tonight as the Dog and family speak about their recent events. See ya there.
I don't know how much good they do either, but I signed the petition, anyway. :)
Yanni??? Ooo-kay. Creepy!
kenju: me too!
aka_merritt: Erm.... maybe? I dunno.. if playing piano were all he had in mind I might consider it. But if he started getting that lovey dovey look in his eyes, I'm outa there!
karen: absolutely.
tori: Yanni looks ALOT like a guy I used to date. Picture him in a black Souther Comfort t-shirt, jeans, boots and driving a blue El Torino. And only about 5'2".
