Thinks He's Kujo

The other night, Yoda was feeling a little friskier than usual. Ma was sitting in the living room and this made him nervous. He feels it is his responsibility to make sure that Ma does not leave the house and he isn't crazy about the idea of her leaving her bedroom at all. As a result of his feisty mood, Yoda was growling and snapping at everything that moved. Every time Sammy walked by, he'd snap and snarl.

Because Ma has a mean streak about a mile long, she decided it would be funny to sneak up on Yoda and poke him in the back of the head with her big toe.

This was not a wise move.

The normally sweet, loving, cuddly pile of mush turned into a snarling, snapping, psycho mutt, latching onto her toe like a pit bull. Ma squealed (serves her right, I say) and Yoda, upon realizing that it wasn't Sammy he had hold of, sat down in front of Ma and stared up at her whining like he was being beaten. If ever a dog showed remorse, Yoda did at that instant. It seemed his heart was truly broken.

After everyone calmed down and I shamed Ma for scaring the poor thing, little Yoda collapsed from the stress. At this point, I was laughing hysterically. He's such a character:

yoda guilt

Oh he's fine. He'd open his eyes and peek at Ma every so often and she'd tell him, "I'm not talking to you," and he'd just close his eyes again.

None of my animals are normal.

And to think so many people think animals don't show emotion, have feelings that get hurt, just like people do, huh? Poor little guy -even if he is being a bit of a ham on the playing dead routine in the picture!

It is funny that he knows how to show sorrow so well!

Tis the season for pets to be a bitin' - my lovely yet dysfunctional cat Siren took a chunk out of me Tuesday night - he's not much for holiday prep chaos and we always hurt the ones we love!

The whole episode became surreal when the bite site (ain't that cute) turned into an infection and 9 hours in the ER on Friday.

Thankfully I'll be fine and Siren seems oblivious to his part in this drama. Perhaps Yoda can advise Siren on the benefits of remorse?

Or perhaps Siren needs to pay Ma a visit!

my little pom reilly is a scrapper too. He's snapped at both my kids but they torture him and I tell them that what ya get dammit!. I've never seen him play dead though, he just runs to his crate and pretends to be sorry...
