There's Something Smelly About Cletus

I really appreciate all the great advice on purchasing a new vehicle. I printed your comments and tucked them away in my planner so that I can read them again before I go to take the plunge.

Yesterday I went online and checked the Blue Book value of my Mazda, knocked $500 off and made plans to call Cletus. He offered to buy it right after he told me it wasn't worth the money it would cost me to fix it. Something just doesn't smell right about the whole thing. I talked to Lulu about it this morning and after the penny pinching queen of Podunk County finished fussing at me for knocking the price off before I'd even talked to anyone, I decided I'd try to sell it elsewhere first. As we discussed it, Jasper stopped by my office (he's still hot-to-trot for my voluptuous bod.. what can I say?) and I jokingly asked "Hey.. wanna buy a car?"

Low and behold, Jasper went on to inquire about said vehicle because apparently his son is looking for something to drive.

Things are looking up, keep your fingers and toes crossed. I'll keep you posted.

I really wish you could talk to me son-in-law about your car -gotta agree with you about something smelling not quite right with Cletus and the car deal there. My son-in-law often picks up old vehicles, does some work that is needed and resells them at a fair but low price while still making a little bit of profit for himself so knowing that, gives me the notion that Cletus is seeing big dollar signs in his mind over your buggy!

I'd be suspicious of him too! I wish you could talk to MY son-in-law. He owns 2 pre-owned car lots and I know he could help you find a good deal on a car that was in good condition. Good luck with Jasper.
