I saw an article today on Jessica McClure, the child who became known to the world as "baby Jessica." Everyone watched their televisions intently for 58 hours as workers labored to free her from the 8 inch pipe she'd fallen into.
Can you believe it's been twenty years since that happened? I'll never forget sitting in front of the set, glued to CNN, my own toddler at my feet, watching in horror, hanging on every new bit of information. I'll always remember the relief I felt when they finally, painstakingly pulled her little body free, her little bandaged head. I bawled like a big ol' baby.
Now she's grown and has her own son. I'll bet there aren't any holes in that yard.

Wow I never saw that... bc I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic, though I'm sure it featured on our news here...
