If you eat, you'll feel better

I took the Amazon back to college Saturday. We got a late start, it was nearly midnight when I got back home. I won't get to see her again until March, it's a long stretch of time.

I spent the better part of yesterday laying on the couch in the dark, blanket pulled over my head to block any sounds, smells or bright lights. No I wasn't nursing a hangover.. just a migraine. It was one of those "omgIthinkI'mgonnahurlifImovemyhead" headaches. Ma, being the kind, caring and nurturing soul she is, offered comfort.

"Whats wrong with you?? YA SICK??"

"It's just a headache."

"DIDJA EAT?"

"No.. I'm not hungry.. I'll be fine in a little while."

"If you'd EAT you'd FEEL better."

"Please, just... go."

"Well you don't have to be so hateful."

Gotta love her.

I've got one cigarette left. Then I quit. Again. Hopefully for good this time. I don't have any patches, nicotine gum or lozenges. I don't really even have that much determination. I just know I need to do this.

I'm not sure I can.

I think I'm going to go smoke that last cigarette, then I've got to get to work. I'll talk to ya'll again soon.

There are days when we all just need to pull the blanket over our heads and hide. Obviously Mom didn't quite understand the headache, but she meant well (she wanted you to feel better.)

Congratulations on the last cigarette. Stick with it. Just think of the money you will save, how much better you will feel and smell.

GOOD LUCK! I know you can do it. I did, and I was the most overly- addicted person on the planet. Let us know how it goes, okay?

Pulling for you to kick the habit. Think of it this way, with the money you save, you can make another trip to see Craig Ferguson.

I heard him on the radio Saturday on that show Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me. What a voice. I'm a sucker for a Scottish or Irish or Australian accent.

Good luck with the not smoking thing. It is so hard. The husband still struggles. It was the hardest thing I've done, 24 years ago.
