Lemony Snickets, Power Failures and Power Naps

I took a vacation day so I could recover from yesterday's journey and get some stuff done around the house, like laundry and paying some bills.

The universe had other plans.

Ten minutes into Regis and Kelly, the power went off. It had been raining off and on all night, and the power had been out at some point, when I got up the alarm clock was flashing. So, no vacuuming, no laundry, the only thing I accomplished was a nice long nap.

I'll never be able to go to sleep tonight.

The Amazon has been telling me for some time that there was some stuff in the movie, "Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events" that I really needed to see. It's been on one of the movie channels we don't get and I've had my eye out for it at "K"s convinience store, video rental, tanning bed and propane filling place, but they didn't have it. So when I saw it at the grocery store in the marked down "previously viewed" bin for $7.99, I grabbed it.

When she saw that I had it, she'd popped it in the DVR before I'd even gotten the rest of the groceries put away, informing me that it was the outtakes I needed to see.

All I'm going to say is, I may never be able to look at Liza Minelli the same way again. I may even become strangely aroused. Didn't I say that drag queen in Vegas looked like Liza?

Hmmmm.... surely not. No.. that's not possible.... maybe?

Anyway, it was a pretty good movie. I thought the kids in it were excellent, the "look" of the movie was unique, and Jim Carrey never disapoints. Oh and, one actor in particular looked just a little too fabulous in his red lipstick. I do need to sit down and watch it again though, I was cooking dinner through most of it.

They're calling for more rain in the next couple of hours. I've heard on the scanner that the water from the creek and the river both is almost in the road. If the creek is over the bridge in the morning, they won't let us open the plant for work, which I have mixed feelings about. One more day off would be nice and a part of me is still nine years old hoping they'll close school for the day. I'm already going to be so behind I won't know if I'm coming or going.

How many more days until Craig Ferguson is back on CBS? Six?

Dang.

I'd better go do that laundry while the electricity is holding out. More storms on the way and now there's a new tropical depression formed in the Atlantic.

Later, I think I'll go dig through some of those pictures I took in Vegas. I need to get a closer look at "Liza."

*snort*

Later Taters.

My son read a few of the Lemony Snicket books. He liked the movie, too. Jim Carrey. Who doesn't enjoy his twisted humor!

Jim Carrey is a master at his craft, that's for certain. Is the movie close to the books?

We watched that when it came out - and it was frighteningly like what we went through - being pursued by a crazy man - who everyone else saw ans someone who was someone good - creeped the kids and I out.
