How you know you need a life....

When it's Monday night and you're sitting on the couch, holding a plate of what's left of your dinner, in a cotton wrap around robe which lost it's tie ions ago. The Boston Baked Beagle and the Chihuahuaranian are sitting with their butts on the floor, paws on the edge of the couch, with huge sad eyes, acting as if they've not had a morsel of food for days (not true) and you begin feeding them, alternately and with the fork like little children.

It's not the actual act of feeding your dogs like children, alone on the couch half naked which makes it sad. It's when you catch yourself giggling with pride that your dogs know how to eat from forks, like people, opening their little mouths and sliding the food off of the utensil and begin speaking to them as if they were 24 month old toddlers, saying things like "oooo is dat good stuff? is it? dats a good boy."

And then... you blog it.

I need an intervention. Or sex. Something.

I found myself grinning ear to ear reading this, thinking that I'm going to try to feed Alfie (our smartest dog) with a fork and see what he does.

It sounds reasonable, fun and fulfilling but then, I need a vacation.

I used to have a roomate who fed her Husky potato salad with a fork. But only potato salad. It was the only time he came to the table to beg.

We used to have a dog who loved peanut butter which, of course, had to be eaten from a spoon. *g*

You are far from alone in the sad department. My Max comes and plops down next to me as soon as he sees a plate. I still feed him by hand, though, as I don't think he is clever enough to eat from a fork. He's cute and sweet but not too bright.

tori: we used to give one of our dogs peanut butter just to watch him lay in the floor pawing at his mouth, trying to get it off the roof lol.

karen: believe me, neither of these animals is all that bright lol.
